- The German band will play each of their albums over eight concerts in the Sydney Opera House this May.
Sydney's Vivid LIVE has announced Kraftwerk as the festival's headline act, with the band performing their full catalogue across eight shows in four nights in May.
The ten-day winter festival transforms Sydney and its landmarks into canvases for light shows and colourful art installations, with the Sydney Opera House being the central display piece for unique projections. Along with Vivid's visual component, a number of musical events are held all around the city, with this year's bill being headed up by pioneering electronic group Kraftwerk. The German outfit will bring "The Catalogue 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8" live show to Australia for the first time. Presented as a 3D audiovisual performance, organised by long-term collaborator and visual artist Emil Schult, the band will perform eight separate shows for each of their studio albums, in chronological order, in the Opera House's Joan Sutherland Theatre.
On May 24th, the band will kick off at 7:00PM with their iconic debut, Autobahn, followed by the performance of Radio-Activity at 9:30PM. The same timings will be used for each night: May 25th covers Trans Europe Express and The Man Machine, the 26th will be Computer World and Techno Pop, and the final night, May 27th, will finish with The Mix and Tour De France. Tickets can only be attained through an application process on the Opera House's website, a process which closes at midnight on March 1st. The remainder of the Vivid LIVE programme is due to be announced some time in March.
