  • Resident Advisor is back at Sónar festival in 2018, co-curating the Saturday night programme at SonarLab. The Barcelona festival has today added more than 50 artists to its programme, including details of the RA SonarLab stage, on June 16th, which includes Lanark Artefax and his dazzling live show, and Errorsmith, the producer behind one of 2017's most adventurous albums. Octo Octa, who played one of last year's standout RA Sessions, will perform groovy, improvised house, and experimental artist Fatima Al Qadiri brings her brand new live show to Barcelona for the first time. Also performing on the RA SonarLab stage is the hotly tipped JASSS, who released a breakthrough debut LP, Weightless, last September. Closing the stage are two formidable back-to-back pairings: techno DJs Ben Klock and DJ Nobu, sharing the decks for the first time, and deep-digging duo Motor City Drum Ensemble and Jeremy Underground, whose chemistry behind the decks was enshrined in a much-loved RA podcast. Away from the RA stage, new additions to Sónar 2018 include Thom Yorke, Modeselektor, Cornelius, Rosali´a, Yung Lean, A-Trak, Alva Noto, Nin~o de Elche and Israel Galva´n, Laurel Halo, Chino Amobi, Charlotte de Witte, Russell Haswell feat. Sue Tompkins, Amp Fiddler and Tony Allen, DJ Earl and Nick Hook, Oscar Mulero, KOKOKO!, Claude Speeed, Ilpo Va¨isa¨nen and Schneider TM, and Second Woman. Kampire, the Kampala-based DJ who's a core member of the Nyege Nyege collective, will play at an African music showcase hosted by Diplo. It's also been confirmed that previously announced act Laurent Garnier will play a set of "music from his own extensive repertoire." When the programme is complete, the festival will have more than 140 performances spread across nine stages at both So´nar By Day and So´nar By Night. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Sónar. The festival announced its first round of acts back in November—before that, it unveiled plans to transmit music into outer space to celebrate its quarter-century milestone.
