- Mijk van Dijk is set to re-release his debut album on a new label, Environ-Mental.
Berlin techno veteran Mijk van Dijk is set to release a remastered version of his debut as Microglobe, Afreuropamericasiaustralica.
16 years since its initial release, Afreuropamericasiaustralica is a testament to how much has changed in the world of house and techno: the tracks were produced on hardware van Dijk MIDI-controlled through an Atari, then edited together by hand in his modest home studio. When the album first dropped in 1994, it carried a strong environmental message with it, telling young people not to rely on older generations to preserve the planet. It's a message van Dijk feels is especially relevant today, which partly explains his decision to revisit the album.
Afreuropamericasiaustralica will be the first release on van Dijk's new label, Environ-Mental. The new imprint is a platform for whatever new material van Dijk cooks up in his Berlin studio, plus re-masted versions of '90s gems.
