NYE 2010 clubbing guide: Sydney

- Here's our run-down of what's on offer this New Year's Eve in Sydney.
- Aesthetically, you'd be hard pressed to find a better city for the New Year's than Sydney, which might explain why there are always so many DJs in town. Come the night of the 31st, clubbers will need to make a choice between staying close to the action in the CBD, or spending their night at one of the parties in the Inner West. For anyone hoping to steer clear of the inner city and its road closures and alcohol free zones, local institutions Mad Racket and Picnic will both be hosting parties. The former have locked in Chris Duckenfield and Session Victim for a night of house at the Marrickville Recreation Centre, while the latter are all about the disco sounds. Picnic have nabbed both Rub N Tug's Eric Duncan and fellow US jock Lovefingers for their warehouse event, with the location to be announced closer to the date from their website. If you're up for contending with some tighter crowds, Chinese Laundry will host two internationals at their end-of year celebrations, enlisting English big room jock Nick Warren for a three-hour courtyard set, while French producer Yuksek keeps things lighthearted with his upbeat electrohouse. For a full view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks you'll need to be at one of two places: the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay, where 20:20 Vision boss Ralph Lawson will be spinning, or on the other side of the harbour at Luna Park's Big Top where Digitalism, Dennis Ferrer and Riva Starr will all share the decks. Meanwhile, across the water at Darling Harbour, house legend Frankie Knuckles and regular Australian visitors Crazy P will be spinning at Bungalow 8. Once the calendar flips over to January 1st, even more options spring up. The annual Spice Afloat cruise will be departing the Star City Casino Wharf at 3:30 AM with Slam, Milton Jackson and Bjorn Wilke all on board, along with the usual slew of locals. As always, you'll have your pick from a number of New Year's Day festivals. Field Day will takeover The Domain, locking in electro heavyweights Justice and A-Trak for rare Sydney sets, along with Erol Alkan, Peaches and Zombie Disco Squad. Over at the Moore Park Entertainment Quarter, Francois K, M.A.N.D.Y. and Steve Lawler head up Space Ibiza's festival bill, each of whom will be taking to the decks amongst a hefty selection of international acts. If you'd prefer to spend your New Year's tucked away from the world, Surry Hills venue Tone has you covered: the venue will be letting Church of Techno do their thing for 17 hours, where Dopamine, Dave Stuart and Kerry Wallace will all be spinning.
