- The producer's debut album will be released this May.
DJ Qu has announced details of his forthcoming debut album, Gymnastics, to be released via his own imprint, Strength Music Recordings.
The New Jersey based producer and DJ, real name Ramon Lisandro Quezada, tagged himself as "the dancer's DJ" in our 2009 feature on the US east coat house renaissance centred around Jus-Ed's Underground Quality imprint. He's been steadily reinforcing that description ever since, with a well-received run of dark, stripped-down productions for his Strength Music stable.
Samples of Gymnastics have been uploaded to DJ Qu's Soundcloud page, and they reveal further explorations of hypnotic and gritty deep house, including two tracks previewed in his Little White Earbuds mix from last year: his own "Get Sum" and a new Jus-Ed production, "Aerial." Three Gymnastics vinyl samplers will be dropped throughout April, with the full CD coming out in May.
