- Severant will come out next week on Planet Mu.
Jamie Vex'd will release his first album as Kuedo next week on Planet Mu.
The English DJ and producer got his start making early dubstep records with Roly Porter as Vex'd, but has worked mostly on his own since 2009. Entitled Severant, his first artist album shows him indulging several fetishes at once. First is his fascination with the future, inspired mainly by Blade Runner and its soundtrack by Vangelis. Second is what he describes as "strange relational loop" between the imagination and reality. "There's a bitter sweetness in that gap," he says, "it has a certain emotive quality, kind of in between being and non-being." Then there's the much more down-to-earth influence of southern hip-hop acts like Clipse.
You can hear Severant streamed in its entirety right now on The Guardian.
