We look at what's going down across the country this January 31st.
Are you ready for New Year's Eve? No? Well, let's see if we can't fix that.
West and Wales
We start out our trip across the UK by checking into Bristol and one of the city's most popular parties, In:motion. This one's proffering a mixed-bag type of experience: house from Visionquest and Tensnake, drum & bass from High Contrast, and lots more besides from a lengthy cast of locals. TB2 are also leaning on the locals for their budget bash, with an advanced ticket costing merely £5.
Cardiff will be in for a taste of Berlin's Innervisions, meanwhile, as Âme and Marcus Worgull journey to the Trade Street Warehouse for what's sure to be a night of deep house goodness.
Midlands
If you're Birmingham-based on the big night, Face & Glas have assembled a hefty selection of house artists for their event at the Rainbow, with Dyed Soundorom, Matthias Tanzmann, Maceo Plex and MK all set for appearances. Below are taking care of things at the same venue on January 1st, as regulars Subb-an and Adam Shelton are joined by Seuil, Shonky and Bloody Mary. Alternatively, If and Fuel's NYE "Masquerade Ball" at Bushwackers offers up sets from Max Chapman
and Eats Everything. And what must be one the larger bass-orientated NYE gatherings on the planet will go down at Stealth in Nottingham: Pearson Sound, Hudson Mohawke, D-Bridge, Toddla T, Youngsta and L-Vis 1990 should between them cover almost all corners of the hardcore continuum.
North
We begin in Manchester for our look at the north of England, and the final ever Micron event. Joshua Brooks is of course the spot, and UK veteran Justin Robertson will be manning the decks as headliner. Sankeys are hosting Heidi's Jackathon party, which in addition to the women herself features Maceo Plex, Lauhaus, Matt Tolfrey and Subb-an. The Warehouse Project should be the place for big beats, as Annie Mac, Fake Blood and Jaguar Skills all spin. For something a little darker, we'd suggest catching Shackleton's live set at Kraak Gallery.
Liverpool is looking like a toss up between Chibuku Shake Shake at The Blade Factory and Magnet: the former features festival favourites Chase & Status, the latter Chicago house kingpin Derrick Carter.
Jaunt & Ape-X will do their thing with Belgium duo San Soda and Red D (AKA FCL) and Adam Shelton in tow down at Cosmic Ballroom, or if you're in Preston, deep house specialist Move D plays The Cafe Bar thanks to For No Reason.
And there are a few parties of note taking place on January 1st, should you be so inclined. We'll be linking up with the WHP for their final party at Store Street. We don't have the space to give you full details of the lineup here, but know that Laurent Garnier, Derrick Carter, Maya Jane Coles, Pearson Sound, Julio Bashmore, Space Dimension Controller, Tiger & Woods and many more besides will feature from 12:00 noon onwards. Mono Cult's soiree at The Faversham in Leeds is not looking too shabby either, with sets coming from Ame, Art Department, Tiger & Woods and Sven Weisemann. And that man Derrick Carter pops up again at Vox for Arkitekt—he'll be joined by Leftroom's Matt Tolfrey and Made To Play's Jesse Rose.
Scotland
Last but by no means least, we journey north of the border to check out what's going on in Scotland over Hogmanay. Bigfoot's X Riverside Hogmanay is now sold-out, but those who bagged a ticket for the party at a "secluded hideaway on the river Clyde" can look forward to sets from Simon Stokes and Quail. Subculture mark 25 years of Sub Club by bring Ame to Jamaica Street; Optimo play host at The Glue Factory; and Sistrum's Patrice Scott pushes deeper house at La Cheetah Club. And The Liquid Room have bagged themselves a tidy little lineup which features Julio Bashmore, Deetron and jozif.
There is of course much going on besides, so click through for comprehensive West & Wales, Midlands, North and Scotland listings.
