- RVNG Intl. will release the American avant-pop artist's next LP in March.
Julia Holter will release a new album in March called Ekstasis.
Holter is an LA-based artist who plays a daydreamy style of avant-pop, with herself on vocals and keyboard (or keytar from time to time). She's released five albums since 2008, all but one of which were available only in limited runs on small underground labels. Ekstasis comes just a few months after Tragedy, which was her first full-length to be available on a format other than cassette or CD-R. According to a press release, it was recorded over the past three years in LA with an impulsive, often improvisatory approach—Holter says it's built on "open ear decisions: what seemed to sound best for that moment."
Ekstasis will be Holter's debut on the New York label Rvng Intl.. You can stream the track "Marienbad" right here.
