- Produced under his first name, the Modern Love stalwart's next album is due out in April.
Miles Whittaker has revealed full details of his first solo album, Faint Hearted.
Working alone, under aliases like MLZ and Suum Cuique, and collaboratively, as a member of acts including Demdike Stare and Pendle Coven, Whittaker has long been a prolific purveyor of textured, experimentally-laced sounds. While some of his projects have put out full-length releases, Faint Hearted will be Whittaker's first album produced under his own name—or to be precise, his first name, Miles.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this one defies easy classification: though heavy on off-kilter, atmospheric soundscapes, it also works in some intense breakbeat passages and a bit of floor-ready techno. (A press release emphasizes that diversity, referencing artists like Plastikman, Aphex Twin and Mika Vainio.) The album will come out through Modern Love, the longtime home to most of Whittaker's musical pursuits, on 2xLP vinyl as well as digital formats.
