- The Pan Sonic vet and the iDEAL Recordings boss will release their long-simmering full-length through Touch this September.
Mika Vainio and Joachim Nordwall will release a collaborative album, Monstrance, this September on Touch.
Both artists are veterans of the farther reaches of electronic music: Vainio claims membership in Pan Sonic and co-founded the Sähkö label, and Nordwall has helmed iDEAL Recordings and a number of experimental groups over the years. The Finnish-Swedish duo came together about three years ago at Einstürzende Neubauten's studio in Berlin, where they holed up for a session. While Monstrance is described as an electronic record, its creators tracked a handful of live instruments beyond the usual processing and synths—Vainio leant his skills on electric guitar and percussion, while Nordwall played bass, Hammond organ, vibraphone and "metal objects."
