- The Berlin-based label will drop three new releases next month to celebrate.
Mannequin Records is celebrating its fifth birthday this December.
First founded in Italy and now based in Berlin, Mannequin focuses on the darker strains of synth pop, post punk and even "psychedelic rock," with an equal emphasis on digging up forgotten gems as discovering new artist. Releases from Tropic Of Cancer, Mushy and a UV Pop reissue are among the label's highlights so far, and they'll release three records from newer bands on December 9th to mark five years in business.
The first is an EP from "experimental post-punk" crew Deathday, who have previously released on Downwards. Their two original tracks will be supplemented by a remix from Legowelt. The self-titled debut album from Montreal synth-pop group Police Des Moeurs is up next, and it's reportedly somewhat of a concept album for the "transition moment between the end of utopia and the final ecological disaster," heavily inspired by underground music in the late '70s. Finally, Serbian duo Sixth June will release the Pleasure EP, which consists of poppier material influenced by the likes of Gary Numan and Depeche Mode. The Deathday EP will be limited to 300 copies, while the other two get 500 each.
