Shifted has a six-stop North American tour scheduled for September.
The UK DJ and producer recently sat down for a lengthy interview here on RA, 'revealing' himself—though it's been something of an open secret for a while—as Guy Alexander Brewer, formerly one half of the drum & bass duo Commix. Nowadays he stays busy championing techno and experimental sounds with his label Avian (co-founded with Ventress) and its offshoot Mira, while working under aliases like Covered In Sand and Relay, and otherwise doing plenty of touring (he just played a couple shows in Asia).
His first stop on this tour is San Francisco on Friday, September 12th, where he'll play the fifth edition of the local Surface Tension series. The next night has him jetting to Brooklyn for a set at Output, where Oliver Deutschmann and Fluxion will also appear (and John Roberts, who's booked for the Panther Room). A party with the Ascetic House collective in Phoenix will follow a few days later, along with NO SLEEP in Mexico City, Shifted's first Mexico gig.
The tour finishes up in California with two LA shows hosted by Mount Analog. On Saturday the 20th is Nuit Noire IX, showcasing Dominick Fernow's labels Hospital Productions and Bed Of Nails, the latter of which released Shifted's second album late last year. The heavy-hitting lineup also features Function and Fernow as Vatican Shadow (as they gear up to release a collaborative album), as well as Alessandro Cortini, Dual Action and Josh Eustis (who put out an LP as Sons Of Magdalene a few months ago). Then on Wednesday the 24th, a Mira label showcase has Shifted playing live under the name Covered In Sand for the first time ever. Silent Servant, Prostitutes and Encapsulate are also billed.
Tickets to the shows in Brooklyn and LA (for Nuit Noire) are available on RA.
