- The Irish artist has dropped his first album in four years.
Donnacha Costello has finished and released his new album, Love From Dust.
The LP—Costello's first since 2011, when he decided to step away from the music industry—was originally announced last year as a crowdfunding initiative. Costello was notified that the EMS Synthi he signed up to receive in 2001 was finally being built, but it came with a hefty price tag. In the end, the campaign didn't raise the the full amount needed for the EMS Synthi, but he was able to buy a Buchla Music Easel, which he instead used for Love From Dust.
Now Costello has released the record, which he says calls back to his "classic emotional, melodic, ambient years," like his 2001 Mille Plateaux classic Together Is The New Alone or his Colorseries releases. Each track on Love From Dust was recorded in a single take with no overdubs, made with one synthesizer and two effects pedals. You can stream tracks from the LP below.
