- The German sound artist will perform his new acoustic composition at the theatre in February.
Phillip Sollmann, AKA Efdemin, will premiere his latest project, Monophonie, at Berlin's Volksbühne on February 7th, 2017.
Monophonie is an acoustic composition performed using the instruments of American composer and instrument maker Harry Partch, the sculptures of US-based artist Harry Bertoia, and German physicist Hermann Von Helmholtz's 150-year-old double siren. (Watch the siren in action.) Sollmann, who's been working on the piece "for quite a while," describes it as "a next level musical journey through time and space without any electronics involved." He'll be performing alongside contemporary classical music ensemble Ensemble Musikfabrik.
