Richie Hawtin, DJ Harvey and Air will all perform around the city for the annual winter celebration.
Vivid Sydney has announced its 2017 programme which will run from May 26th to June 17th.
The ninth edition of the winter festival will once again bathe the harbour city in lights and music, with dozens of gigs happening all across town over the 23 day period. The visual and musical centrepiece of Vivid, the Sydney Opera House, will have its sails illuminated from the evening of May 26th with Amon Tobin scoring local artist Ash Bolland's vibrant projections.
This year's Opera House lineup features Richie Hawtin debuting his new CLOSE live show on the Northern Boardwalk, as well as a Repressed Records 15th anniversary showcase with Severed Heads and Total Control. Air will play their first Australian show in nine years and The Avalanches will perform songs from their acclaimed 2001 album Since I Left You with help from DJ Shadow, Briggs and Sampa The Great. Downstairs in The Studio, Goodgod Super Club returns to host parties with DJ Harvey, Steffi, Karizma and Kenji Takimi plus homegrown staples Ben Fester, Magda Bytnerowicz and Noise In My Head. Nick Murphy FKA Chet Faker, Goldfrapp, The Necks and Beth Orton round off the Opera House programme.
Away from the waterfront, local promoters like Picnic, Heavenly, Vibe Positive and Soul of Sydney will present shows at some of Sydney's best bars and clubs including Harpoon Harry, Freda's and Cake Wines Cellar Door. The Oxford Art Factory will also host a Women In Electronic Music Showcase night with sets from Andy Garvey, Sui Zhen, FlexMami and more.
