- Label founder HKE is stepping aside due to his struggles with depression.
Dream Catalogue is changing hands and reissuing some of its most popular records.
The news surfaced in a Facebook statement this past weekend from label founder David Russo, AKA HKE, in which he apologized for erratic behaviour and explained a years-long struggle with depression and anxiety.
"My intention is to take a back seat for quite a while, maybe a year or two," he said, "so I have personal time to sort out my mental health and try and bring some normality back to my life. This will be the last you hear from me for some time."
Today, a new statement appeared on the Dream Catalogue website, with two entities called Danaseus and Mykena claiming themselves as the new owners of the label. The new operations will be split into three phases, starting with a reissue phase that features vinyl pressings of Russo's 2814 LPs, including the first-ever vinyl release of the self-titled debut, both available for order today. Other fan favourite albums will be reissued on cassette starting on October 1st.
Following that is the End Series, which will feature 16 new releases as originally planned and organized by Russo, followed by the Chaos Era, which starts next summer, with details still TBA.
