- The first proper full-length from the longtime Italian rave DJ sees release on Kynant Records in February.
Longtime Italian DJ and producer Max Durante's debut album, The Experiment, is on the way via Kynant Records.
Durante was a key part of Rome's early rave scene—he's been DJing since the late '80s, and making a mix of techno, industrial, acid and electro as a solo artist and collaborator for almost as long. The now Berlin-based producer's first proper full-length is described by Kynant as signaling "a new, leftfield direction" across its eight tracks. It includes appearances from a couple other seasoned Italian artists: Fabrizio D'Arcangelo, of the Roman duo D'Arcangelo—they recorded with Durante under the name Automatic Sound Unlimited in the early '90s—and Naples' Retina.it.
Kynant will give The Experiment a release on double-vinyl and digital formats in February. The label launched in 2015 with the Durante 12-inch Black Light (which featured a remix from another longtime DJ from Rome, Donato Dozzy), and later that year put out a jointly-produced EP from him and DJ Datch, who were credited as Black Sand. Recent years have also seen Durante put out a couple records on Adam X's Sonic Groove.
