- The two-and-a-half-hour double-album from the modular synthesist comes via Lawrence English's Room40 label.
Room40, the experimental label run by Australian producer Lawrence English, will release a double-album from M. Geddes Gengras called Light Pipe this October.
It'll be the first Room40 release and tenth solo LP for Gengras, an upstate New York-based synthesizer specialist whose previous work has come through labels like Leaving Records and Umor Rex. Room40 says Light Pipe may be his most ambitious effort to date: it's made up of more than two-and-a-half hours of music, with its ten tracks split between two discs, each focusing "specifically on either interior and exterior spaces."
We're told the album, whose pieces were written in response to site-specific performances, offer "landscapes of texture and harmony" that are "ideal for deep immersion—for sleep, for flying and for any creative states within which a sense of expansion is needed."
Light Pipe is Gengras' second solo release of the year. A couple months ago, he put out Hawaiki Tapes, a cassette made primarily with the Korg Volca FM synth, through Umor Rex.
