  • Esa will end his residency at London's Phonox this September. After nearly a year at the Brixton club, the South Africa-born, London-based producer will play all night long at two closing parties on September 7th and 14th. Until then, he will be hosting various guests for his "Invites" summer series. Those include Nyege Nyege Tapes' Kampire, local label Soundway Records, Afriquoi, DJ Fett Burger, Jasper James and Harri & Domenic. "Many hours of music preparation and sharing it with an open-minded crowd every Saturday for six hours wasn't always easy, but it was always worth it, and I've learnt so much," Esa says. "The experience has certainly helped me develop, and now is the time to move on with some exciting new and existing projects. With my newly formed Afro-Synth Band touring alongside some legacy artists, including Ntombi Ndaba from South Africa, my extended DJ sets and developing new, young artists, I look forward to continuing my musical journey with you all." One of Esa's projects is an upcoming compilation on Soundway Records. Esa Presents Amandla: Music To The People is out on September 6th and will feature tracks from Masalo, Alaska, the late DJ Spoko and more. Phonox will reveal its future plans for Saturday nights soon.
