- A government-issued lockdown across the outbreak-ridden region has affected several venues in the wake of nearly 300 recently reported cases.
Multiple venues in northern Italy have announced event cancellations and temporary closures as the number of reported coronavirus cases rises in the region.
Earlier this week, venues near the epicenters of the country's recent outbreak have publicly responded to the health ministry's quarantine order. SAM Sampling Moods, USB Underground Sounds Bologna, Rocket, Tempio del Futuro Perduto, Discosizer and Macao are among the venues and promoters in Milan and Bologna shuttering up in efforts to contain the virus.
An announcement on Macao's Facebook reads, "Recent news about the propagation of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the extraordinary national measures taken in Italy make us responsible in avoiding further possible infections. We are therefore sad to announce that, starting today up until further communications, all the activities and events planned in Macao are canceled."
Italy has reported the seventh person dead from the flu-like virus, while 270 remain infected. Over 11 towns have been in lockdown since Friday night, after officials ordered the temporary closing of schools, businesses and restaurant to limit the spread of the virus.
