Bandcamp Friday: Support Black Artists

For Bandcamp's latest no-fees day, we've compiled recent releases from Black artists and labels, as well as fundraisers for black causes.
Bandcamp's no-fees sale days—when the music platform forgives the cut of sales it would usually charge artists and labels—have already become a ritual in 2020, when people open their wallets to directly support the music they love (and find new music). The third no-fees day (today, June 5th, from midnight to midnight Pacific time) lands in a different context, as the world is gripped by protests for Black Lives Matter against police brutality and racial injustice. Now is a time to support Black artists and Black-owned record labels. To start, members of the electronic music community have put together a document with more than 1,000 Black artists and labels to support. Beyond that, we've compiled a list of new releases this week from Black artists and labels, as well as highlights from the last few months. Below, you'll find fundraising efforts from non-Black entities, including charity compilations and record labels who will be donating 100 percent of their proceeds towards Black causes. The third volume is out today. Fundraising efforts • The Polish electronic scene has banded together to donate all their sales towards Black Lives Matter funds. Check out a full list here. • Beats In Space is donating all sales to Black Art Futures. • Club Chai will donate all sales to ARC Bail Fund and People's Breakfast Oakland. • Co-Select's first compilation benefits the UK QTIBIPOC Emergency Relief & Hardship Fund. • Critical Music is donating all sales to Black Lives Matter. • Dais Records is donating all sales to a variety of pro-black causes. • Dark Entries is donating all sales to Black-run LGBTQ+ organizations. • District160, a Minneapolis label, is releasing the BREATHE footwork compilation to benefit Reclaim The Block. • Eglo Records is donating all digital sales to the NAACP. • Fever AM will donate all sales to bail funds via ActBlue. • Incienso is donating sales to the NAACP Legal Defence And Education Fund and bail organizations. • Jacktone is donating all proceeds to Black-run LGBTQ+ organizations. • Hyperdub is donating the label's proceeds to Black Lives Matter and related causes. • K-Lone -The Falls EP, all profits to Amos Bursary. • Local Action is donating its sales to Black Lives Matter and anti-police brutality causes. • Modern Obscure Music is donating all proceeds towards SOS Racisme Catalunya. • Naive has released the No Justice No Peace compilation and is donating all sales to black-run LGBTQ+ organizations. • Ninja Tune is donating sales to the NAACP Legal Defence And Education Fund. • Precolumbian & Estoc - Landocore EP - profits to Black Lives Matter Philly / Philly Bailouts. • Radio Quântica will donate all proceeds from its new compilation, Complacent = Complicit, to SOS Racismo and this Act Blue bail fund donation splitter. • Richard Chartier - "Ossification Palisades" - proceeds to ActBlue. • RVNG Intl. is donating all sales to Black Art Futures. • Rhythm Section International is offering 10 percent off (and other deals) all weekend with code "bandcamplove"—10 percent of the weekend's proceeds will go to the SE15 Community Fund. • saadashraf*'s first-ever release will raise money for bail funds. • Scenic Route is donating 100 percent of proceeds to community bail funds. • Sorry Records And Friends will donate label proceeds to Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, with artists directing their share to pro-Black funds of their choice • Stranded - Long Dusk EP - all proeeds to ATL Solidarity. • Vanity Press is donating its sales to Black-led LGBQT+ organizations. • Wolfskuil - Imagining A Different Kind Of Future Phase I - proceeds to International Red Cross and Black Lives Matter, matched by label head Darko Esser. • Bandcamp has posted a broader list of participating artists and labels here and here.
