  • New York's Wire Festival has added a series of panel discussions to its upcoming program. Moderated by Daniel Martin-McCormick, AKA Relaxer, the conversations take place this Friday and Saturday at Knockdown Center. Each one is free and open to the public. On Friday at 7 PM, Ariel Palitz, executive director of the Mayor's Office of Nightlife, will sit down with Tato Getia, a founding member of Tbilisi club Bassiani, and Tyler Myers, director of Knockdown Center, to explore the impact of age restrictions at New York clubs. Following that is a discussion by Berlin-based techno duo FJAAK who will dissect the ins and outs of building a DJ career. On Saturday at 8 PM, Ukraine-born DJs Nastia and Ana B will lead a conversation on whether DJs should be political regarding Russia's war in Ukraine. This session comes amid widespread controversy over Nina Kraviz's perceived silence on the issue. This is Wire Festival's debut edition. Going forward, organizers intend for it to be an annual event. This year's lineup includes heavy hitters such as Richie Hawtin, DJ Stingray 313 and DVS1, alongside local DJs WTCHCRFT, KYRUH, Juliana Huxtable and more.
