- Professor Inc, AKA Frederic Poix, makes deep, cosy house music for intimate spaces. In the case of "Paris Paris," that means a chugging house groove made of yawning synths, echo-soaked percussion and an abstract piano motif. "Essence" livens things up a touch without losing the lead cut's jazzy flavours. It spins around a central core of gentle congas and Eastern-leaning organ noodling.
With its muscly kicks, "Wa" is the toughest track here. It shows off distinct dub techno influences, although Poix sounds more at ease in warmer climes. A case in point is "Yeah," which progresses elegantly from mid-paced cruise into an analogue synth workout that's stripped of any adornments. It might not be as addictively twisted as Ivano Telepta and Alex Jansen's EP for Rue de Plaisance earlier this year, but Paris Paris is another notable release for Varoslav's two-year-old label.
