- With every release, John Daly is cementing his status as one of the most consistent producers operating across the house/techno spectrum. A large part of that is down to a focused approach, a Venn diagram where mood, space and musicality meet. As such, "Everlasting" is classic Daly; the synths glow so warm you could toast marshmallows on them, and there's a satisfying chug to the tempo he dials in. At the six-minute mark, the Irishman drops the primary melody, initially leaving just twinkling hi-hats and a muddy kick pattern before unleashing a devilishly trippy synth throb. In an instant, it goes from spooky techno to deep, spacey house.
Marcelus' sprawling dub techno rework of "Everlasting" floats by on a bed of velvety pads before disappearing down a hole dug out by weapons-grade kicks, before re-emerging at ground level. It's essentially the same concept as Daly's original, twisting it from dark to light and back again, albeit with more workmanlike results.
