- Tough but colourful techno for busy dance floors.
- The Parisian artist Anetha plays and produces hard yet textured techno with intriguing percussive and melodic flourishes. She's a resident at the local party Blocaus, which regularly books techno's top names (Regis, Rrose and Inigo Kennedy have played in 2018). In the past two years, Anetha has become as well known as some of Blocaus's headliners. Her DJ sets often draw from the fast and melodic sound of Danish techno, featuring tracks by key Copenhagen producers such as IBON and Schacke.
Bionic Romance's "Miyuki & Patrizia" cements her fascination with those high-definition textures, drawing from the hard but sweet energy of the Copenhagen sound. Where there were hints of trance in Anetha's earlier EPs, Ophiuchus and Leftover Love, it goes full technicolour on "Miyuki & Patrizia." "Virtual Ritual," on the more functional B-side, feels like it could send dancers flying into the air when its galloping kicks begin careering through a soundsystem. Across Bionic Romance, hooks are defined and texturally consistent, while the drums have a rolling depth that was still in its early stages of development on Leftover Love. This new EP gives us a stronger sense of Anetha's identity.
