- The legendary Brazilian group cover a Dilla track they helped inspire.
- "Dilla was the first one to properly sample a Brazilian record, which is for 'Runnin' by The Pharcyde, which is a João Gilberto record with Stan Getz," recalled the hip-hop photographer B+. Indeed, Jay Dee's love of Brazilian music, one of many themes coursing through his 2001 debut solo album, Welcome 2 Detroit, introduced countless beatmakers to the stuff. This makes Azymuth's cover of Dilla's "Rico Suave Boss Nova"—off the 20th anniversary box set edition of Welcome 2 Detroit—all the more poignant. On the Milton Banana Trio-sampling original, Dilla drew inspiration from legendary Brazilian group. With their cover, Ivan Conti's Azymuth returns the favor, paying their respects to the late icon.
