• The Chengdu producer offers an exquisite touch on electro-influenced techno.

  • Although Sequalog started out as a platform for the work of French producers TC80 and Etienne, the label has been growing a roster of international talent who are equally vested in the mechanics of sinister club fare, from Uruguay to China. For the latest, Chengdu-based producer B.AI provides the goods. The majority of the record is spent running anxiously up-and-down claustrophobic 808 corridors (in a good way). But my favorite is "Ewave," which has hints of IDM lightness to it, thanks to a scattered arpeggio and a bassline that sounds gently plucked. It brings a human touch to the song's robotic swing.
