- Lone Romantic is Maceo Plex's label for the weirder stuff. It started out as a primarily electro label but has since branched out into all kinds of big-room weirdness, and Romantichrist, the new EP from Russian producer RLGN, is one of the strangest. Opening track "Olonkho" is the easy highlight, based around a heavy-duty broken techno template that feels like a slowed-down techstep track, roaring basslines and all. But the real focus here is the chanting vocals, a heady brew of throat singing and what sounds like Christian choral chanting, which lends both a gravitas and an over-the-top silliness to RLGN's larger-than-life drums.
